Donate Furniture
Who can donate furniture?
Anyone can donate furniture, providing the items are clean, safe and reusable
What can I donate?
We welcome donations of most types of household furniture like double bed and sofas but we are particularly in need of white goods which consist of, cookers, fridge freezers and washing machines.
Is there a collection charge?
Our free collection service opperates within the Welwyn Hatfield area but for other areas such as St.Albans, Potters Bar, Hertford and Ware, an out of area collection charge will apply to cover the cost of fuel. We do not receive any type of funding from these areas and have to apply a small charge in order to accommodate their residents. If you would like to deliver furniture to the warehouse, please ring first to arrange a convenient time. Items will be viewed by a member of staff and if in good condition and deemed useful, they will be accepted.
When taking white goods we do ask that you pay a deposit of £5.00 for each item, if your item is found to be in good working order one month after the collection date, your deposit will be returned.
Due to the high volume of damaged items donated to the scheme, we have had to put this operation back in place.

What happens to the furniture I've donated?
The furniture is brought back to our warehouse where it is thoroughly checked and placed ready for distribution. Clients (particularly people on low income) visit the warehouse to choose items and a small handling charge is paid for each item, which contribute towards expenses.
Where does the money go?
The WHCVS Furniture Scheme is a non profit making organisation. The money taken for furniture goes back into the scheme to help us to continue to provide our valuable service to the community.
Disposal
Unfortunately we do not have the facilities to dispose of your unwanted goods, please dispose of them thoughtfully; contact your local council who operate a collection scheme.
